  • Description

This is the Marathi version of the book, Asura, the first novel penned by Anand Neelakantan. It is translated by Hema Lele. Published in the year 2012, the book has topped several bestseller lists, including the prestigious 2012 Crossword and the bestseller list of CNN-IBN.

    Summary of the Book

Asura tries to break the familiar custom of history being recounted by winners. Asura - Tale of the Vanquished tells the tale of the Asuras. Asura narrates the stories from Ravana and Bhadra's viewpoints, by blending religion, mythology, and history. It asserts that the Asuras were more liberal than the conformist Deva community, which was highly prejudiced and unfair in various circumstances. From the stories of Mahabali, Vamana, and Sita’s Agni-Pareeksha, to Jatayu’s meeting with Ravana, the author uncovers all the human emotions behind the stories and offers a new, rational outlook for readers.
